Rename Corrupt .Jar File

The Jar file specified below might be corrupted. Rename it and then re-launch Minecraft.

  1. Click the File Explorer icon on the taskbar.
  2. Click the View tab on the Ribbon interface.
  3. Check the Hidden items checkbox to show all hidden files and folders.
  4. Open the following location:  C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\.Minecraft\Libraries\Net\Minecraft\1.6.2
  5. Rename Minecraft-1.6.2.jar as Minecraft-1.6.2.jar.old.

 

Run as Admin

The game functionality issues might arise due to insufficient administrative privileges. Re-launch it as an administrator.

  1. Right-click the Minecraft icon on your Desktop.
  2. Choose Run as administrator option.

 

Diagnose Compatibility Issues

The information below will help you re-run Minecraft in compatibility mode:

  1. Open Minecraft context menu by right-clicking the executable file.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Click the Compatibility tab.
  4. Check the box named Run this program in compatibility mode for.

Reinstall Minecraft

Using the following command-line, first rename the .Minecraft folder and then uninstall and reinstall the game.

  1. Exit Minecraft completely.
  2. Press Windows Key + X; choose Command Prompt (Admin).
  3. Type the following commands:
    • CD C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\
    • REN .Minecraft .Minecraft.OLD
    • Exit
  4. Press Windows Key + X; choose Search.
  5. Type Settings and open it from the Search Results.
  6. Click the System tab on the left and then click the Apps & Features tab.
  7. In the Type an app name textbox, type Minecraft.
  8. Select Minecraft from the Search Results; and then click Uninstall.
  9. Follow the removal wizard, restart the PC.
  10. Install Minecraft again.
