Adobe Audition, which was formerly known as Cool Edit Pro, is a digital audio workstation that features both a multitrack, non-destructive mix/edit environment and a destructive-approach waveform editing view as well. Currently, Version 12 is being offered, which was launched on October 17, 2018, with some new main features such as DeReverb and DeNoise.

Solution 1
The first solution requires making certain changes to the settings of Adobe Audition. Click the Edit tab on the panel at the top and navigate to Preferences located at the bottom. From there, Select Audio Hardware, and a new window will pop up.
From there, tap the Device Class bar and select ASIO. Prior to installing Adobe Audition, you need to make sure that you have the ASIO driver installed on your PC.
Once you select ASIO, you shall observe that it is working right next to the Device bar.
Now record your vocals. Once you are done recording, revert the device class back to MME.
Solution 2
It is not a problem with the software itself but the Windows and junk files that may be causing it. Computers regularly download and store files, which may interfere with the regular operations of the computer and hence result in lag. Therefore, we must get rid of such junk files so that the software can run freely.
For this purpose, ST Cleaner is a great tool that can solve your junk related problems. Therefore, follow the steps mentioned below to set up ST Cleaner.
Visit the ST Cleaner website and download it’s setup for Windows.
Once ST Cleaner setup has been downloaded, install the software and then launch it. Upon starting the software, you will come across several options to scan junk files. Click Scan to initiate the scanning process. Additionally, you can select to run the software for system, software, and web and social and multimedia junk files.
ST Cleaner will take a few moments to scan your device and then will present a list of the files that are unnecessary after a thorough assessment. However, in order for ST Cleaner to scan all the junk files, you will need to run it properly. Once the files are accumulated, you can click View Details to view the files in location and delete them accordingly.
