Product Spotlight: Use Sorcim’s Easy Files Renamer to organize photos by date and rename them if required.
EFR follows Google Software Principles. It will not ask you to provide email address to download the software.
This makes it easy to search for photos on one hand, while on the other hand it saves space on your devices as well. Therefore, let us walk you through certain tips to follow in terms of organizing digital photos.
Choose ONE location
To start with, it is recommended that you choose a particular location for storing all your digital photos. This can be a location where you will not be saving any other files at all. If you have photos located in the Downloads folder or the Desktop, move them to this location. This will prevent your PC or device from becoming a mess. It is because of this mess that locating certain files and documents becomes difficult.
Sort By Year
The second step is to create folders by years and sort photos the same way as well. At the moment, you might have a lot of photos that might need to be sorted but once you’re done with the process, you shall observe how organized your device will become. Today, devices tag photos by the year taken. This will allow you to easily sort them by year. However, if they are not, then you will have to do it manually. Moreover, certain devices also store photos by providing them numerical names. Once you are done with sorting photos, you can simply cut and paste them in a folder particular to a year.
Sort By Month
This technique will come in handy particularly if you have a lot of photos. Sorting by month will be done on a regular basis but it will surely keep your photos absolutely organized at all times. You can also create sub-folders (for months) within the particular year folder. This shall help you keep a tab on the precise location of important photos. Therefore, if you need to share them, you can simply visit the folder by month and effortlessly scroll through photos.
Organize Your Cloud Storage
When it comes to storing important data such as files, never store all your data on a single device, and always create multiple backups. With that being said, cloud storage services are a great way to keep your data secure and private. However, you will need to keep them organized and since cloud storage is easy to use, you shall not have any problem keeping things in different folders. You can easily create folders just as you would on your devices and provide them a name. The best part about it is that you can access it from anywhere and your devices will save ample storage.
Screen and Filter Photos
Screening and filtering photos is as necessary as organizing them. Make it a routine of regularly screening and filtering photos so that the process becomes a lot easier. Your device might have several photos that are not needed or have not been used for a long time. Deleting such photos will make organizing the rest of the photos very easy. Whenever you download or receive photos, decide whether you wish to store them for long or short term. If you need them for the long term, store them in the Photos folder and if they are temporary, delete them when they are no longer required.
Implement Metadata Management
Metadata is information about a file, which in this case is about photos. It enables users to search for photos using extensive keywords. For example, if you are searching for photos on your device related to cars, you can search for related terms such as Car detailing, Tyres, Horn etc. Not only that, metadata allows the user to search photos based on date, author, and other relevant information as well. This is an effective tool if you have a vast photo library.
Manage Offline Storage
Apart from organizing your cloud storage, managing the offline storage is also equally important. This also ensures your personal data is always kept secured and hidden from prying eyes. And since hacking is on the rise nowadays, investing in an external hard drive is a pretty safe option. You can simply plug it in and view your photos at any time of the day.
Tag Photos
If you have thousands of photos in your photo library, manually renaming them might not be an option. Therefore, you can tag your photos so that they all pop-up once you search for them. Photo tagging software allows you to tag multiple photos at once. For instance, if you have tagged photos with My favorite in the title, upon inserting the title in the search bar, all the photos with the same title will be displayed. Regardless of where your photos are, your device will locate the files and present them in a matter of seconds.
Name Photos
Lastly, always remember to name your photos. Even though it may seem a daunting task to rename each and every photo but make it a point to rename files as soon as you download or receive them. Later down the road, you will understand its importance, particularly while looking for a particular set of photos. You can name them by their attributes such as events, date and moments etc. Therefore, when you go looking for photos, you can search them by their title.
