Google Vault (GV) is a core application of G Suite that allows users to retain their data and then search and use them according to their purposes. It is quite similar to Google Drive, but there is one major difference. While Google Drive allows backup, GV on the other hand does not. This is where the problem lies. In some cases, you need to download emails in Google Vault in different formats such as PST and MBOX. This is yet another significant difference between Google Vault and Google Drive. Downloading Google Vault emails in PST and MBOX format is not an option available in abundance. Step 1: About Gmail Backup Solution
You will begin by visiting the official website and downloading the Systools Gmail Backup program, which is a user-friendly backup source that allows you to download emails in different formats such as PST and MBOX. Not only that, you can download your contacts, calendars, and several other related things as well.
Step 2: Download and Lunch Systools Gmail Backup
Now download the Systool Gmail Backup program and launch it. There are certain things that you need to consider in order to smoothen the process of downloading.
- Allow Systools Gmail Backup to access your contacts, emails and other Gmail items
- If the program fails to run, it means that Google is blocking it due to security concerns. You need to grant permission to solve this problem and get the backup job initiated.
Once the program has downloaded, launch it. Upon launching, you will be asked to provide your username and password. Make sure that you use the same account that consists of emails you wish to download.
Step 3: Select Options
Once you have logged-In, the user-friendly interface of Systools Gmail Backup will help you get familiarized with all the options at first glance. Since in this case, you wish to download emails in PST and MBOX formats, you will need to select the options provided. Remember, Gmail Backup will only download one type of emails at a time, you will have to run it again for another type.
Step 4: Select Destination Folder
Systools Gmail Backup will not begin the downloading process if the destination folder is not selected. Therefore, ‘Browse’ and select the location of about to be downloaded files. If you select ‘Desktop’ as the destination location, Systools Gmail Backup will automatically create a folder titled your email address, which will contain all the downloaded files.
Step 5: Run Systools Gmail Backup
Now it is time for you to run Systools Gmail Backup. The process will take a few moments until it completes the process.
Step 6: Locate Downloaded/Backup Folder
Locate the downloaded/backup folder created by the application. It will create a folder as shown in the screenshot below. Plus, the problem will also produce an ‘Export Report’ for you to take a look at the final results of downloading/backup.
Visit the sub-folders created to locate your MBOX type downloaded emails.
The same steps follow for PST type emails as well.
