What is Windows 365 and how is it different from Windows 11?

Microsoft made two major announcements in 2021, which were about the release of Windows 11 and Windows 365. This led to curiosity as well as confusion about both the versions. In this article, we are going to discuss both versions in detail and see which version will suit your needs and preferences.

What is Windows 11?

During an online event on June 24th 2021, Microsoft had announced that it will be releasing Windows 11 in the future. It is supposed to be a completely new operating system with most changes pertaining to visuals. It is going to be a successor to Windows 10, so you can expect it to come with a lot of features.

For instance, Microsoft has introduced a brand new start menu, which does not use Live Tiles. Additionally, that start menu is now located in the center of the screen, although you can move it around and place it wherever you want. Next, the File Explorer has an updated UI as well.

Windows 11 also features the Widget Panel that gives you access to things like calender, weather etc. Perhaps the most noteworthy feature is that Windows 11 is going to come up with support for running Android apps.

On the hardware requirements side, Windows 11 needs at least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.

What is Windows 365?

Unlike Windows 11, Windows 365 is basically a subscription service and it is not a product. This means that it isn’t something that you can install on your PC and run. It is a service offered by Microsoft to create and run PCs remotely.

Windows 365 allows the users to create a Microsoft PC on Microsoft’s servers that can be accessed from anywhere in the world. You can run that PC as you like by installing apps etc. The difference is that these apps can be accessed from anywhere without needing a powerful computer to do that.

This means that you can access these apps via phone as well and they will run flawlessly. You simply need to sign-up and access the files from anywhere in the world using a device of your choice. Another chief feature of Windows 365 is that it is available for both Windows 10 and 11 and does not need specific PC requirements like Windows 11.

You simply need to sign-up for either the Business or Enterprise version and you can set up remote access to your virtual PC.

Which Should I Choose?

Choosing between Windows 11 and Windows 365 entirely depends on the needs and preferences. While Windows 11 is aimed at regular Windows users, Windows 365 is targeted towards businesses and enterprises. An individual who has just purchased a PC will not normally go for Windows 365.

They are simply going to opt for Windows 11 and that’s the end of it. However, opting for Windows 365 for a relatively small number of users will not make any sense as it costs over a two-year period is higher than a physical PC with more or less the same specs.

Final Word

There is a huge difference between both these operating systems and they have been designed to cater to different user segments. If you are a business or an enterprise, you should go with Windows 365. However, if you are a regular Windows user, you should opt for Windows 11.
