Android users often find themselves struggling with space and managing personal data such as photos and videos. Fortunately, they have Google Photos at their disposal, which can be used to archive photos and free up some space on their devices for a while.
Today let’s take a look into how Android users can archive photos on their devices and then access them when needed.
Use Archive on Google Photos
To archive your photos on an Android device, you will first need to download and install Google Photos. Next, you will need to sign-up to your account as well. The archiving process may slightly vary depending on the device you are using.
To begin with, you should first launch Google Photos and select the images you want to archive. Once selected, click the three vertical dots located on the top-right corner of the page. Select the More tab that will give you the option to move the photos to the archive.
Now that the photos have been moved to the archive folder, you need to locate the Archive folder in Google Photos. And if you wish to unarchive an image or photos, you will have to return to the Archive folder and select the images you wish to unarchive. This will return the images back to their original location.
Use Archive Photos on iOS
To move photos to the Archive folder on an iOS device, you will have to follow pretty much the same steps. Launch Google Photos on your iOS device and select the images you wish to archive. Tap on the three-vertical dotted icon and move the images to the Archive folder. And once you need the photos to return to their original location, simply click on the Unarchive option, which was initially replaced by Archive.
Use Google Photos Archive on the Desktop
Using the Google Photos Archive on the desktop is slightly different. First, you should visit photos.google.com using your web browser and sign in to access the main feed. Upon locating the photo or the image, select it and click on the three vertical dots on the top-right corner of the screen. If you wish to select and archive multiple photos at a time, simply hover the mouse over the photos and they will turn blue.
Simply use the Shift+A shortcut keys combination to send all the selected photos to the Archive folder.
Final Word
Following the steps mentioned above, archiving and then accessing your photos on Android, iOS and other devices is quite easy. Archiving is a useful feature that does not delete the photos but moves them out of sight. If you are fighting for space every time, send your photos to the Archive folder to keep them safe until you wish to return them to their initial location.
