Following the same trend, Netflix has brought a substantial amount of enthralling content this month too. Read on to find out what’s new on Netflix this time.

1) Velvet Buzzsaw

Dan Gilroy, the writer as well as director of the movie Velvet Buzzsaw is known to create masterpieces. The movie is originally set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival. This drama/ mystery movie revolves around art critics and the idea of disfavoring the commercialization of art by people who are not genuinely concerned about it. In the gruesome movie, there are murders and a dead artist haunting the alive. With versatile actors such as Jake Gyllenhaal (an art critic), Natalia Dyer, Hawe Ashton, and Rene Russo (an art dealer), the movie looks very promising for sure. As described by the Collider, Velvet Buzzsaw is a delightfully insane slasher for the art world! Watch the official trailer here.

2) The Umbrella Academy

As you might guess, the TV show is based on the renowned comic book and graphic novel series by Gerard Way. The storyline of this particular show is quite unique. It revolves around a dysfunctional family where six adopted individuals get to reunite after the man who brought them up mysteriously dies. These individuals are SUPERHEROES! Woah, 6 superheroes uniting! Sounds like a global threat, no? With a cast that includes Ellen Page and Robert Sheehan, the show is definitely something to look forward to.

3) Russian Doll

Produced by Amy Poehler, Russian Doll happens to be a dark comedy. The storyline of this intriguingly mysterious show is based upon a New York resident Natasha Lyonne who keeps reappearing at the same party (which was thrown for her actually), where she always ends up dying an untimely death. We promise you, this would be quite different than any other never-ending sort of movies/ shows you have ever watched before.

4) Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj (Volume 2)

Hasan Minhaj is widely known for his comedy, initially mainly for his light-hearted jokes regarding brown people and their everyday lives. In this particular show, Hasan uses his outstanding storytelling skills to openly discuss modern trends and cultural as well as political landscapes that play a huge role in shaping our society. He indulges in these conversations with a tinge of humor, which makes the show worth watching. After all, there is a reason he won the Peabody Award.

Volume 1 of this show got banned in Saudi Arabia due to a controversy. There were little chances that the show will return but thanks to Netflix, it did! There’s always something intriguing about shows/ movies that cause controversies, which makes you want to watch them even more. The show will be available from 10 February onwards. Don’t forget to check out what the hype was all about!

5) The Dragon Prince (Season 2)

6) Paddleton

This one is a Netflix original movie so you already know that it is going be worth watching. The movie stars Mark Duplass and Ray Romano, both of whom seem to do an amazing job. The story revolves around a new friendship building up between two misfit neighbors, only after one of them is diagnosed with terminal cancer. This might not be a lovey-dovey rom-com thing to watch in February but would sure be a good emotional ride for any avid movie watcher. It will be released on February 22nd.

7) One Day at a Time (Season 3)

Those of you who have been following the previous seasons might already be aware of how the show has also been nominated for the Emmy Awards in the past. The award-winning director Stever Soderbergh has come up with another possible hit. Even the title of this Netflix original sports movie seems so promising that one can easily guess that the ratings will be sky high. The story is based upon an agent and a basketball client who land themselves a controversial, yet engrossing business opportunity. The movie has a stellar cast that includes big names such as Zazi Beetz, Andre Holland, Kyle MacLachlan, and Zachary Quinto.

Another highly interesting aspect of this movie is that it is entirely shot with an iPhone. Sounds cool, no? Don’t forget to check it out and show some support.

ReMastered is another Netflix original. It is basically a history based documentary series, being released on 8th February 2019. This Kristen Stewart starrer was directed by Olivier Assayas. The drama/mystery movie originally came out in 2016 but was picked up by Netflix only recently. In the movie, Kristen (Maureen) is a young American living in Paris where she shops for a celebrity.

She once made a deal with her brother that whoever amongst them dies first, he or she will attempt to send a signal back to the other person from the life hereafter. Now, the movie revolves around how Maureen’s brother dies and she spends her time trying to communicate with him through ambiguous signals. The storyline seems to be quite different so I would definitely suggest you go ahead and watch it.

11) Nailed It! Mexico!

This will be the follow-up season to the show Nailed It. Nailed It Mexico is yet another outstanding Netflix original. In the show, amateur bakers are presented with luxurious pastries, which they then try their level best to recreate. Trust me when I say this, the results are quite amusing and definitely not accurate. The show is cute, funny, and simply irresistible!
